My First Blog Post: Creating a Bedroom Collage for Our Master Bedroom
Welcome to my very first blog post! I’m so excited to finally share my journey of designing our master bedroom. This project marks the beginning of my blogging adventure, and so far, it’s been such a fun process!
Why I Created a Bedroom Collage
When I first started thinking about the design for our master bedroom, I knew I needed a way to visualize everything before making any big decisions. That’s when I decided to create a bedroom collage. It helped me see how potential new items would look alongside the furniture and decor we already owned.
Creating the collage was a great way to experiment with colors, styles, and layout, and it gave me confidence that everything would fit together perfectly before making any purchases.
The Bed Frame: A Must-Have for Storage
One of the first things I bought for the room was our bed frame from Amazon. I specifically chose it for its tall design, which provides much-needed under-bed storage. With a 12.25" clearance, there’s plenty of room for storage bins.
I use two pull-out drawers from The Container Store and two long under-bed boxes, one of which sits on top of each pull-out drawer. These storage containers are perfect for keeping travel items, seasonal clothes, and skiing gear organized and out of sight!
Maximizing Space with Under-Bed Storage
I’m a huge fan of under-bed storage—it’s a game-changer for maximizing space. It not only keeps everything neatly tucked away but also makes the room feel more spacious and clutter-free. We actually have two of these bed frames—one in the master bedroom and another in the guest room. My husband uses the one in the guest room for his travel gear, keeping both rooms neat. As for me, I store my suitcases under our bed.
Adding the Perfect Nightstands: Rattan TV Console Credenza
I chose two Rattan TV Console Credenzas in Black from Nathan James. The quality is fantastic, and while my husband thought they were a bit pricey, I believe the investment is well worth it.
I bought them mainly for their storage capabilities. The doors help keep things out of sight, making cleaning a breeze—just dust the top, and everything hidden inside stays neat. They’re the perfect blend of style and functionality, helping keep my bedroom feeling calm and organized.
Recent Purchase: Velvet Headboard from Walmart
My most recent purchase is a velvet headboard from Walmart, which was a steal at only $60. The quality is surprisingly good for the price. However, like most velvet furniture, it tends to change color when touched, becoming darker or lighter depending on the pressure. It’s a minor thing, but overall, I’m really happy with it for the price.
A Key Piece in the Room
One standout piece in the room is a yellow velvet chair I bought from Wayfair a few years ago. It's incredibly comfortable, and I always get compliments on it! When I ordered it, I expected a brighter yellow, but it arrived in more of a mustard shade. I still love it—it adds a cozy, vibrant feel to the space, and the quality has held up beautifully over time.
What’s Next in My Master Bedroom Design
While I’m getting closer to finishing the room, there are still a few items on my shopping list that I’m excited to purchase soon!
First, I’m planning to get new lamps. The ones I currently have are a bit too small for the nightstands and the room as a whole, so I’ve found some with a nice texture that will help keep the space feeling airy and bright.
I’m also on the hunt for new bedding, and I’ve already found a set from Wayfair that I absolutely love. It will help keep the room feeling fresh and clean.
For that final pop of color, I’m planning to get artwork from Society6 that ties in perfectly with the chair’s hue. I’ve also been eyeing some leopard artwork from Etsy and a wide pillowcase from Amazon to fit the king-sized bed. To finish off the look, I’m considering light blue curtains, which will add a nice touch to the space.
I’ve always wanted a plant in the room, so I’m planning to order one from Easy Plant to add some natural life and color.
I can’t wait to see how everything will come together!
My Bedroom Color Palette
I’m aiming for a cozy, inviting space with pops of color that don’t overwhelm the room. As you can see from the collage, the color palette plays a key role in bringing everything together. I wanted the room to feel calming yet vibrant. Rich, warm tones with a touch of contrast are my focus, and I’ve complemented the yellow velvet chair with softer neutrals and black accents. I’ve also included blue elements, like the headboard and curtains, as yellow and blue have been my favorite colors for the past few years.
